Toilet Talk

Since the girls turned 2 in November, I have been thinking about when we are going to potty train. I originally was not going to go the tiny potty route and just use a little seat on the big potty, but as I thought about it, I realized that there are 2 of them and I really did not want to train one of them to go in the bathtub. Therefore, over Christmas I bought two little pink potties/step stools. (super cute with the little pink cushy seat) The girls love to use them as step stools.

We have not ventured to use them as potties at all - other than to explain that they will use the little potties and then we will dump them into the big potty. Which they were on board with cause they love to dump their poop from their diapers into the potty.

So since we have been stuck inside, I decided that we would try an intro course. Here is the timeline (though the days could be off since I am delirious with snow):

Sunday: While taking a bath, Audrey commented that she was tinkling. Then after the bath she said that she still needed to tinkle. So I put her on her potty - and she did literally 3 drops. Brooke also sat, but just to play.

Tuesday: While eating lunch, Brooke asked to get down from her high chair so that she could poop. I asked if she wanted to go on the potty. YES. So we ran to the bathroom (after getting Audrey down too - they both insist on sitting on the potty at the same time) and Brooke did her entire poop in the potty.

Tuesday continued: After eating dinner, the girls said they needed to go to the little potties. And unbelievably, Audrey did a full out tinkle in the potty!

Wednesday: All day the girls have told me that they need to go to the potty - which they really just want to go and take off their diapers and sit on the potties and ask for toilet paper and ask to be read to (seriously I can't read that The Way I Feel book again!). So we have gone numerous times to "try" though clearly they were not trying. Then tonight after their bath (after getting out of the tub several times each to tinkle in the potty - again just a fun game) Audrey sat down and actually tinkled. And then tonight before brushing teeth, Audrey tinkled again. HOORAY!!

Looks like we are on our way to potty training.
