Farm and Wine

A few weekends ago, we decided that the colder weather was coming so we had better get out and enjoy the outdoors before it got too cold.  So we headed north a little and went to Great Country Farms for a day out in nature.  And it just so happens that when you pay for admission to the farm, you get a free wine tasting at the winery just across the street.  So win-win for us all.  Here is an FYI that I am sure you did not know - Virginia is the 5th most popular wine destination.  In the world.  How is that possible?  But we have taken advantage of it when possible as wineries are surprisingly family friendly up here.  And most of them are west/northwest of us and there is BEAUTIFUL scenery both on the drive and around the wineries.

Looking across the street from the farm to the winery.  Yes it is on the side of a mountain.
The girls and D marching through the corn maze....or shall I say the maize maze?
Brooke providing gentle, or maybe not so gentle, guidance as to which way we should all go.

The girls bouncing on this pumpkin looking bounce hill.  Look at Audrey's face: Pure joy

Brooke feeding the "mean" goat.  This goat was super aggressive and would head butt any of the other goats out of the way to get to the food.
Feeding tiny horses or ponies or mules or donkeys.  Whatever.  They were adorable.
One of these bit D a little.  He did not follow his advice of keep your hand flat while feeding.
Feeding the pot-bellied pig.  It was so cute!

Sliding down these extremely fast tube slides.  They would have stayed forever if allowed.

I am a fan of Virginia wine! There's a winery near the in-law's and I try to go every time we're there, although the in-laws are starting to suspect I may REALLY like my wine.
